Change is good

I keep telling myself this. I’ve been going through a lot of it lately at work. The company is experiencing turbulent times, and my work environment has been evolving and shifting constantly for the last six months. As stressful and uncomfortable as it has been, I know that everything I’m experiencing is helping me grow as a young professional. I frequently speak of the benefits of habitual behaviors, but I also know the importance of change.

I’ve finished my MBA degree, now I’m in the heat of the action where all the real learning takes place. It’s experiences in the real world that shape your professional aptitude and help you develop the tools you need to handle future challenges. If you are never forced to move outside the familiar landscape of your day-to-day role, you will never progress and you definitely won’t achieve your potential.

Even the trees are changing around here!

When faced with change, you have no choice but to adapt and create a new normal. Realistically, if nothing ever changed, life would be really boring, right? Your best option is to approach change with a positive outlook because no matter which way it shakes out, you will learn something in the process, whether it’s about yourself or others in your life.

I like to view life with the “everything happens for a reason” mentality. If you don’t think like that, you really should try it. It takes a lot of the weight off your shoulders when you just let go of the things you have no control over.

What tactics have you used to deal with change? I would love to hear your input. I don’t see this storm of change quieting any time soon.

To a happy, healthy, productive life!
